This policy explains what data MindXP (mindxp.co.uk) collects and how it’s used. Short version: we collect very little, and we don’t sell or share your data with anyone.
Who we are
MindXP is a UK website at https://mindxp.co.uk, run by Lewis Doddy. For anything privacy-related, email hello@mindxp.co.uk.
Comments
When you leave a comment, we collect the data shown in the comments form (name, email, and the comment itself), plus your IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.
An anonymised string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it. Gravatar’s privacy policy is at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture (if you have one) is visible publicly alongside your comment.
Comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site, things like which pages are read and roughly where visitors come from. This data is aggregated and doesn’t identify you personally. Google’s privacy policy is at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Cookies
If you leave a comment, you can opt in to saving your name, email, and website in cookies so you don’t have to re-enter them next time. These last one year.
The site also uses cookies for performance caching and analytics. None of these contain personal data beyond what’s described above.
Affiliate links
Some articles contain affiliate links to retailers. If you click one, the retailer may set cookies to attribute any purchase, and the site may earn a small commission at no cost to you. We don’t receive any personal data about you or your purchase.
Embedded content
Articles may include embedded content from other websites (videos, maps, and similar). Embedded content behaves exactly as if you’d visited that website directly, and those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction with the content.
Contact email
If you email hello@mindxp.co.uk, we keep the email for as long as needed to deal with your message. We don’t add you to any list or share your address.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognised and approved automatically.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you, and you can ask us to erase it (except anything we must keep for administrative, legal, or security reasons). Email hello@mindxp.co.uk and it’ll be handled promptly. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
